Sagarmatha Choudhary Eye Hospital (SCEH), Lahan
started as a small eye care unit 25 years ago, is today
a high volume treatment centre, which provides high
quality comprehensive eye care services at a cost
affordable to a huge population in eastern Nepal and
northern India. SCEH has opened its branch hospital in
Biratnagar with the name Biratnagar Eye Hospital (BEH).

This year, Biratnagar Eye Hospital
(BEH) Biratnagar has successfully
completed its infancy period. It has
progressed rapidly into a widely
well recognized eye hospital fulfilling
its main objective of delivering affordable
high quality comprehensive
and tertiary level ophthalmic services
to the economically poor and
underprevileged people of the community.
Gaur Eye Hospital
The history of Gaur Eye Hospital
began with an eye camp that was
conducted in Gaur, the head
quarters of Rautahat district in
1990. It was realized that
temporary eye camps are not
sufficient to cater the needs of the
patients in this district. Therefore,
a permanent eye health service
provider at the locality was felt
necessary and Dr. Itaru Kurozumi,
the then Chairperson of AOCA,
particularly took commendable
initiative to establish an eye care
center at Gaur.

Kedia Eye Hospital was established
in 1975 AD with the help of Kedia
Sewa Trust and is running under
NNJS. This Eye Hospital is situated in
Bahuari which is 13 kilometers
away from Indo-Nepal boarder
with easy transportation facility.
In1988 AOCA, and 24 Hours
Television Charity Committee of
Japan helped Kedia Eye Hospital in
providing equipments, infrastructure
development etc.
Bharatpur Eye Hospital
Bharatpur Eye Hospital is situated
at Bharatpur, the headquarter of
Chitwan District in Narayani Zone.
Established with a vision to provide
comprehensive eye care services

Himalaya Eye Hospital was
established in 1993 at Gharipatan,
Pokhara of Kaski district. It is being
run under NNJS with the financial
support of Eyecare Foundation, the
Netherlands. As per the agreement
signed, the Eyecare Foundation, the
Netherlands provided 10% of total
operating cost as its contribution
towards hospital operation and
continued its full support for
community based activities, human
resource development, and
procurement for equipments and
instruments for the hospital.
Palpa Lions Lacoul Eye Hospital
Shree Rana Ambika Shah Eye
Hospital of Bhairhawa, extended
the eye care service at a very
primary level in Tansen, Palpa
in 1986 in a small room of
Government District Hospital.
Initially, it was running a weekly
clinic on every Friday. After a few
months, the service was expanded
to 5 days a week.

Present Lumbini Eye Institute (LEI),
is a developed form of Shree
Rana Ambika Shah Eye Hospital
(SRASEH) established in 1983
within the premises of Government
District Hospital (Bhim Hospital)
in Bhairahawa with four staff along
with highly dedicated Founder
Director Dr. S. P. Dhital. With the
generous land donated by Mr. Rana
Bahadur Shah, and Siddharthanagar
Municipality and financial support
of Seva Foundation USA and Seva
Canada Society, Canada, SRASEH
constructed its building in 1993
named "Shree Rana Ambika Shah
Eye Hospital".
Rapti Eye Hospital
Rapti Eye Hospital was established
in 1986 with the support of
Norwegian Church Aid (NCA),
which was later supported by
NABP since 1998. The Hospital is
situated at Rakchha Chaur, Tulsipur
in Dang district in the mid-western
region of the country. This eye
hospital is providing comprehensive
eye care service to 1.4 million
population of Rapti zone.
Fateh Bal Eye Hospital
Fateh Bal Eye Hospital (FBEH)
which is known as Mid-Western
Regional Eye Care Centre, is
managed and run by NNJS, Banke
district branch. It was established in
1987 and developed in cooperation
with Swiss Red Cross and Lions
Club MD 102 Switzerland and
Liechtenstein.
Geta Eye Hospital
Geta Eye Hospital was established
with the financial support from
NORAD, Norway in 1981, and
it became fully operational from
November 1982. Right now, It is
one of the financially self-sustained
hospital with appreciable patient
care. INFIL Foundation, Norway is
supporting since January 2005 in
some of its activities.
This hospital is providing service to
the patients of Far Western Region
of Nepal as well as patients from
Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal of
Nothern India.
